I am an art teacher in Illinois going on 27 years now. When my twins
were old enough to hold a pencil, they started drawing. I painted with
them, did collages, EVERYTHING!! I NEVER once gave them a coloring book(
to stay inside the lines!! how confining! how boring!)
Today these two are still very creative and taking Art II now in High
School, getting A's. When I was growing up, I HATED coloring book, so my
parents bought me drawing paper and art supplies so I could express my
own art. I felt too limited inside THEIR lines. Coloring books are a way
to keep kids busy and out of your hair. I LOVED doing art with my own
two children and watching their reaction to a new media and being
involved WITH them in the art process.
