Edith,

I seem to be experiencing the some what of the same type of problem from
my seniorist students. One in particular has pretty much giving up on
everything art related. In the mean time he has two art classes out of
his four classes he has a day. As I look back through this year, I can
only think of one project that he completed and it was very imature...He
had great potential from the start of this year...worked really hard the
years prior to this year. Now with the presssure of portfolio reviews,
college acceptance and "what do I do once out of school" fears, he has
decided he can't deal with the pressure so don't do it..a hundred
excuses fly out of his mouth. I seem to only make it worst, so I have
compated his peers to get after him. What happens to these kids ? They
don't want to hear what you have to say, they get very defensive, and
they can't handle rejection, constructive crtiticism, or pressure. How
is this kid going to handle LIFE? Any suggestions wold help. Sorry I
can't help much on your end, but thought you may appreciated knowing
you're not alone with this sort of problem.
