I had another thought on the art fairs. I also get asked if a students
work will be in the district art show. I reply that I wish I could take them
all but since I can only take a few from each project, that is why I hanG
every students art work in our own school. I refer to it as our museum, and
that everyone gets to enjoy the work. I rarely have anything damaged and it
is ususlly by accident. I do large displays for many school themes and
always leave many artifacts, prints and touchables on the hallway counter for
diaplay. I know I am fortunate to have VERY supportive principals at both
schools, as I gather from the correspondance that art is not readily accepted
in many schools.
We had project night at both schools recently and the comments from
parents were very supportive of my program. They can't believe that children
can produce such great art work. It certainly makes all the late nights at
school to hang the work worth it in the end. AMEN Linda E. Sherrill, N.Y.
