RE: Art Lab Fees

At our school the basic intro courses have no lab fees. If students want to
explore an area more in depth, or use specific materials that we don't have
such as premium w/c papers, name brand pigments, they must purchase their own.

In photography, which is an elective, students purchase their own film and
paper. They have an option of buying in a store, or can purchase it at cost
at the savings we get by buying supplies in bulk. ($1/roll, $3/pkg 25 shts
5x7) Most get their photo stuff here. Chemicals, and processing equipment
are supplied by the school. The students must have access to their own 35 mm
camera. The school has two (pentax K-1000's) which are loaned out on "as
needed" basis.

The AP class utilizes mostly school materials, but final paintings,
portfolios, matting,and slides are paid for by the individual.

We have 815 students in the school and our budget last year was $9600. We
have two art teachers and see over 375 students per year over three trimesters.
