>In a recent artsednet digest, I found your request for info on arts integrated curricula. At Sycamore School in Indianapolis, IN, we have a fully integrated Humanities program in our Middle School. The curriculum is history driven, so that visual arts, language arts, social studies and music are all discussing roughly the same era at the same time. The art program was the impetus for this approach and it seems to be highly successful. Students in grade 5 start with prehistoric times and continue through the Middle Ages. Grade 6 covers the Renaissance to about 1875 and 7th graders do the late 1800's and the 20th century. Eighth grade is structured somewhat differently but is still highly integrated.
