Dear fellow art educators,
The Department of Art Education, Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec,
Canada, has recently begun research into the field of art education in
community-based settings. As a member of this research team, I am
interested in defining the role of the art educator in this type of learning
environment. What special skills (if any) are necessary to develop and
teach a successful arts program? How does teaching in a community setting
differ from teaching within an educational institution? What is your
definition of community art education? I am very interested in hearing from
any collegue who is involved or has experience in teaching in this mileu.
Your opinions, experiences and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
