may i suggest some favorites:

Design Technology: Children's Engineering - Dunn & Larson -- Falmer Press
This is based upon the British primary school movement in design
technology, i.e., project-embedded curriculum -- This book is written by a
teacher and a museum guy. Beautiful, practical, Dewey.

Negotiating the Curriculum -- Boomer, Lester, Onore, & Cook -- Falmer Press
Gives the buzz phrases "student-centered" and "teacher-as-facilitator"
solid meaning.

Situated Learning -- Lave & Wenger -- Cambridge Press
This is where ed psych is moving. It represents an American extension of
Vygotiskiian psych. It's readable though.

Arts as Education --Goldberg & Phillips -- Harvard Press, reprint series #24
Not arts in education, not arts and education, but arts AS education

Life on the Screen -- Sherry Turkle -- Simon & Schuster
Personality, identity, social self, and the Internet in the 90s. A good
companion piece to Being Digital (Negroponte -- Knopf)
