BA (Hons) Art and Design in Education 1996 Term 1
GENESIS & DEVELOPMENT OF ART & DESIGN IN EDUCATION
Art and Design Education: A Personal History
Formal Group Presentations
Scheduled during Seminars 4, 5 and 6.
* New student groups may need to be formed at this time as it is necessary to be
in a group of 4 or 5 students who received their teaching certificate during
similar years.
The assignment"Art and Design Education: A Personal History" is an opportunity
to form a collection of all your experiences and creative memorabilia in Art and
Design Education from your earliest years as a school student through to your
present day position. The personal collections once shared within the
corresponding student groups then becomes part of the group's collection of
memorabilia. Through reviewing the groups collection and relating it to art and
design theories and models throughout history it is possible to see what might
have influenced the art and design work you have and are involved in.
The groups presentations of the memorabilia should be creative and original. The
presentation should include theory, analysis and interpretation of the collected
art and design work and a practical activity which relates to that theory.
Issues to be addressed in the presentation should include:
* art work produced, art tools and medium used.
* books and articles used and referred to.
* teaching methods, educational models employed and art and design theories
popular at that time.
* trends in the art world and world events at that time.
* examples from the above can be used as visual aids in the presentation.
The issues above should be described, reflected upon, interpreted, analysed and
compared and contrasted.
Each presentation is scheduled for 45 minutes. There will be class discussion
based upon each presentation, which will include criticism and praise of each
presentation.
All for now.
