i did a great lesson with the kdgs recently which judy decker posted
here. it's called "thinking with a line."

it works best with student grade watercolor paper but you could get
away with construction paper if you need to. or better yet, canvas your
local printers to see if the have some heavier stock. printers are
great sources for paper. you would also need some black acrylic paint
and some watercolors.
