I'll go even further. Because I'm a middle school art teacher most
people won't even take me seriously as an artist OR a teacher. I
applied for a college position and the person hiring called me to make
sure I knew that I was wasting his time with my application. He told me
he thought that someone was playing a joke on him and what made me think
I was qualified to teach college? I was mortified.

I HATE that saying, and I've heard it so much in the past few weeks.

Have you had any difficulty with artistic persuits (outside of school)
because you're a teacher?
