I am in need of some inspiration. One of my students is doing her
concentration on identity-- from the inside looking out and outside
looking in, how circumstances affect our perseption of identity. We are
hitting the wall blocked imagination. Can anyone think of a really
great artist/site that tackles these concepts visually?
Frida Kahlo is the artist that does this. Her life was an interesting one,
to say the least. It certainly shaped her identity and was refelected in her
paintings. And, in her self portraits she literally shows herself from the
inside out! I think Kahlo is the artist you want to study for inspiration
and examples of this concept.
