Greetings Deanna and all,

Art Image Publications has a series of prints selected
especially for Early Years (ages 4 to 7).

Getting all of the sets could be quite pricey - but
buying some individual prints is quite "doable" for
any school.

The activites that are suggested are very good for the
younger kids. I have two sample lessons from this
group on Incredible Art Department:

Wow! I just checked their site and now they have a
"new to me" program:

IMAGINE AND ME
Kindergarten Program

Innovative instructional material introducing art,
drama, music and dance within a basic KINDERGARTEN
curriculum.

Imagine and Me uses an interdisciplinary approach that
brings together four disciplines in art education -
art, drama, music and dance . Children learn about art
and they learn fundamental concepts through art.
Teachers who use Imagine and Me do not have to be art
specialists. The program has been developed to provide
teachers with everything they need to introduce this
material to children.

Imagine and Me is a core program that fulfills the
following educational objectives for preschoolers: -
Know themselves and know others - Establish
relationships with others - Respect themselves and
others as well as ideas, gestures and differences -
Interact with their environment - Integrate in the
school environment and in society - Express themselves
- Become familiar with their immediate surroundings -
Open up to the world and to other cultures - Develop
fine and gross motor skills - Demonstrate visual and
auditory discrimination - Concentrate, listen and
solve problems - Be creative and use their
imaginations - And much more.

Go to Art Image Publications and check Catalog.

Go to What's new and see sample lesson plans for Early
Years. The lessons are so thorough - One does not need
to be certified in art to teach them.

If anyone purchases - or has purchased "Imagine and
Me" for Kindergarten, please post a review. I will try
to get more on this to link to Early Childhood.

Looking at art and reading art gets the students ready
for reading.

Deanna, I am saving your posts.... we will "talk" more
this summer and add a lesson ideas page to Incredible
Art Department.

All of the research shows that it is the ARTS that
help students succeed....all of the ARTS.
Comprehensive is the way to go.

Regards,

Judy Decker
