My usual response involves: Do students have to listen in art? Observe? Reflect? Analyze? Express? Describe? Aren't those all skills that the proficiency test requires?
I even have a little banner by my doorway in the hall that says : Observe, Listen, Reflect, Express.
It has taken my staff a long time to get a clue. The majority of them sort of get it- but you still don't see them making efforts to team teach or be a part...................they did all hoot and clap when my principal announced my OAT award though. Who knows. jancy

Aaaaah. This struck a nerve of mine. Other faculty members saying stupid things like "artsy-fartsy". Rubs me raw. I generally say with a smile, "No, no. You mean "artsy-smartsy". Most times it stops the teacher dead in her tracks and makes her realize she's just insulted me and what I do. The fact that I even have to say it to my faculty friends rubs me.
