It's really sad to hear about those cuts. I just finished researching
art education for a class I am taking and an article I read written by
Laura Chapman was really bleak. She said that there could be more
"artist in the schools" programs with contracted artists replacing art
specialist as cutback occur. She blamed it partly on the perception the
public has that art is not important. It is really a scarry time. It's
time for all of us to convince our parents and administrators of the
benefits of art in the public schools.
