I sometimes compare the P&E's to a recipe. You have the ingredients
(elements) but the way you put them together (and vary amounts of each)
can create a myriad of results--some more tasty than others.

Sometimes I compare the P&E's to English...

it takes lines to create letters that become shapes, to create words,
etc....and then the way they are put together for sentences, phrases,
paragraphs, etc.

artwork and the principles as the way in which the artist puts the
elements together. I often use the analogy of the foundation of a house
and the framework. Linda in NC
