re: still life drawings and updates

Date: Thu Apr 08 2004 - 17:17:44 PDT

Well, I have just posted some of the first still life drawings from my little
Art 1's. They tried hard but it was a tough subject. I set up 4 still life
areas in the room. First they made thumbnail sketches of the area in the
still life that they wanted to work on. Next we enlarged these thumbnails to a
carefully drawn contour outline of the object to be rendered. After
transferring the sketch to white drawing paper they were to render in graphite using the
principles of shading, Highlight, shade, shadows, reflected light and
backshading. They are OK but I have seen better and I was a little disappointed with
some who quit part way through. Some are taking it home with a photo I made
for them where they sat, but it never comes out great from that. I should get
a few more good ones but these are what is turned in for now.

Updated a pierced drawing in art 4 Magical Mystery Tour and a portrait in Art
2 and 5 more figure abstracts in Art 3.

I am busy planning my workshop and presentation for the National. We are on
Spring break next week and I will only need a sub on Monday because of my
presentation at 8:00 a.m. Looking forward to seeing people from the list and to
get away for awhile.
