It's unbelievable how long it takes to do a large papier mache project.
You just have to rationalize it by realizing how many different stages
and skills go into compleing a project like this. Also, there is so
much value in letting kids have enough time for a project that they can
change their minds, correct misakes, take pride in what can come from a
lengthy mixed media project. Mixed media, to me is one of the most
creative venues for art. It's incredible to me if there IS any child
who does not discover, in the time they have for this, the freedom and
high level of creative energy that comes from having so many supplies,
so many ways to build shapes, etc. THe only negative thing about this
project to me, is the LONG time that my classroom is SO cramped by it.
When are they EVER going to knock out the back wall of my room and add
on to
the art room????? lol. yeah, right.
