Thanks Linda, my kids sure complained while doing them but I think they all
surprised themselves.
We looked at portraiture and Sargent's work at our museum.
We took photos and they drew themselves with the grid system. We talked
about values and how if the value is right the color can be anything.
Studied Warhol's portraits briefly.
Then I ran them through photoshop to beef up the values in a cut paper
filter.
They used these almost like a Mola. Cutting underneath values first then
building each value on top.
They kept it at 5 values. I wanted them to go on and paint them but they
didn't want to.
One girl is doing a self portrait with her horse and using hers for
reference.
I really enjoy teaching when I see them light up at their own work.
I also can't wait for summer, how about you?
Brenda
