I do a lesson that I saw in an Arts and Activites.
The kids use magnifying glasses to look at photos of insects, including lots
of butterflies. If you can get a bug collection, that is great. I tell them
to notice the details, like colors, shapes, lines, patterns. And also what
the legs, eyes etc look like.
Then they use a stencil to trace a large magnifying glass shape on white
paper. They use Sharpies and Crayola markers to draw a close up picture of an
insects or insects in the circle. They must include at least one butterfly.
