Teach the needs of the student.
There is no just black or white in teaching art.
Canned art lessons can be at times be what the student needs.
One needs to teach what the student needs for growth in creativity,
observation, understanding, technique and skills not just the favorite
philosophy of the teacher .
Students need guidelines/obectives for growth too.

Why teach canned lessons sometimes:
To teach skills
To teach a process
To learn to following directions/steps
Class size/time limit
It is calming/relaxing
Self esteem
Teach neatness
Teach composition
Teach common sense
