Book Club Begins!

Date: Mon Apr 15 2002 - 19:23:08 PDT

This isn't too democratic, but with more than 50 responses book club
is certainly a go!!! Yay!!!

As I suggested it, I am going to launch it. Not very democratic, but
pragmatic. I want to read what you all think!

1. We will start by reading Art and Fear by David Bayles and Ted
Orland. The sub title is "The perils and rewards of art making."
2. Lets read and comment on the first three chapters by June 1.
3. After we see how it goes, we can read more or less.
4. Comments should be noted thus: Bookclub A&F 1-3 (stands for art
and fear chapters 1-3)anyone who is not interested can pass them up
5. On June 1 we can start other chapters and get through the book by
September by reading a chapter a week (about). It is a tiny book!
6. You can comment as much or as little as you like but give the
prompt (long) if your response is!
7. Everyone should weigh in on the next book. Use the header bookclub
book review. Then give us your take on the book you suggest.
8. In September we will take a poll based on the reviews and the book
with the most votes is the one we will read in the fall.
9. We can read another one in the spring in time for NAEA and then we
can have a real book club meeting (with chocolate) during the
convention, and post our musings to members who can't make it.

Let's just get started and make changes as needed. Many good
suggestions about other ways to communicate, but most people thought
the good old Getty listserv was the simplest way. We can change that
if needed, too.
