Hello all,
This is for all and the parents of your students. It will be worth the
trip...

The Alliance of African American Artists Foundation, Inc., a national fine
arts organization that supports and educates about fine art of all mediums by
artists of African descent, will host its first annual Midwest fine art
exhibition and program event, NEW HARLEM RENAISSANCE in Indianapolis, Indiana
at the Indianapolis Art Center. The center location is 820 East 67th Street
in Broad Ripple. The art exhibition will be ongoing from May 3rd through
May 26th, featuring original works by fine artists of African descent from
across the United States and Nigeria -- including Ohio artists Ron Anderson,
Larry Spencer, Joyce Phillips-Young, Velma Morris, and Pheoris West. A
majority of the work will be available for purchase, with delivery made after
the exhibition. In conjunction with the exhibition, a program event will be
held May 15 - 19th highlighting the performance arts. The program includes
the Evening Gala, the Literary Collective -- performances of original written
works -- the Artist's Roundtable, Classical Jazz Concert at the Madame Walker
Theatre, a gospel concert and the Hampton Family Jazz Concert, featuring
Slide Hampton and Pharez. On Thursday, May 16th, an Evening Gala will be
held and proceeds from the evening gala will benefit the National Underground
Railroad Freedom Center. The Gala will include the exhibition, jazz by the
Pharez Whitted Ensemble, art auction, and reception. Guests will also
receive the exhibition catalog. Tickets to the Evening Gala are $75 per
person and may be purchased through the National Underground Railroad Freedom
Center offices, 312 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202 or call 513.412.6900.
