re: references enclosed with resume

Date: Tue Apr 09 2002 - 19:15:02 PDT

I need a little help on behalf of a friend. She took a new teaching position
this past September but things are just not working for her and she is
looking for a new position but does not want to tell her current employers
that she is looking.

She has excellent references from her previous employers (where she worked
for 17 years) but they are addressed to a specific person. She can't ask
these same folks for new references because if they knew she was leaving this
"new" position...they would try to get her the questions are....

Should she just include these references with her current resume even though
they are addressed to someone else? Or should she put the references in her
teaching portfolio and give them out upon request as references she has been
given in the past?

Time is of the essence as it is the season to job hunt! At this point she is
responding to cold ads and sending blind resumes to various school districts.

What do you all think?
