There should be no problem doing this on artsednet if the subject line
always says "book group." Those who aren't interested can easily and
quickly hit the delete button. Those who are interested can read and
respond when they see the subject "book group." Under these circumstances
there would be no need for "secretarial" responsibilities. Those who want
to participate do and those who don't just delete the messages.

Subject: book group how to do?
Well, seems like having a summer book group is a go! I will be happy
to :"keep the list," but I think our discussions might be too long to
post on the listserv. Is there anyone out there who has a suggestion
how to "talk" so everyone who wants to can share in the discussion?
Do we need a separate listserv or what? Do it off-list? A chat
room?...I'm in the technological dark on this one...I can do the
secretarial part, of adding names and people's emails to the list,
