Re: printmaking

I use old magazines to help with the mess. Place the plate on a clean
magazine page to roll the ink. Move to clean surface right beside the
magazine to print. Next person to print turns to a clean page.Throw away
magazine when finished. (Or save for another project?)
My second graders did a Warhol inspired print of flowers and did four colors
each. I had one table at a time come to the printing station. They had done
glue printing plates so before anyone started to print ,they did several
rubbings of their plate on white paper. These they colored and added other
shapes and lines to the background. This kept everyone else busy. IF they
finished, they could free draw in their folders or go get a book to read. I
did an average of 20 students per class in 55 mintues. I put the prints on
cardboard flats on the drying rack as they finished. (The print papers were
only 4" square) Worked out really good. The last ones to print put the
brayers, and trays in the sink. Alother mess went in the trashcan. Janet
