This is the #1 reason I do not enter very many contests. They would never
dream of doing that to an adult artist. They would either return our work or
reimburse us. And what do they do with the rejected artworks? Throw them
away? IMHO, some of these contests/competitions are taking advantage of this
"free" artwork. Too bad these companies do not truly appreciate children's
artwork. KUDOS to you for standing up for your students and letting A&E know
your feelings.
