A&E Impressionist Competition...???

---------

Just wondering how many here might have had the A&E Impressionist young
painter competition brochures and forms fall into their faculty mail boxes.
I was quite excited for my students and their finished paintings, which were
done in an Impressionist style....however, the wind was taken out of my sail
when the fine print said "none" of the works would be returned. I read and
re-read those fine print words again and again....shaking my head.

There was no way after all the time, the tears...the laughter that these
kids put into their paintings that I would even presume to ask them to
surrender them to a competition. I wish that A&E might have had an option
to have them returned in exchange for an entree fee and a mailing crate that
could be re-used. I wrote the competition and shared my disappointment.
As it is...from what I've heard, most student's parents are getting these
paintings framed up, which will be a nice touch for our conference's end of
the year student art show.
