I've been following this thread with interest, because messed up clothing is
something I get grief about on occasion. I'll look into using KISS OFF or
FELS NAPTHA when I see messes.
The following is a letter I send home when there has been an accident. I
have a small stack of them all printed out on my desk. You are welcome to
use the idea, if you think it would help in your room. Also, suggestions are
welcome.

Dear parent,
Today in art class, ___________________ accidentally got
___________________on his or her clothing.
Part of the lesson in art class, when working with potentially messy
materials, is learning how to work carefully to protect our clothing.
However, even when we're careful, accidents sometimes happen. As you may
recall, it was advised in September that your child should dress for a mess
on art days. Aprons are provided, but aprons offer only limited protection.
Most of the materials we use in the art room are water-soluble, and can be
removed from clothing if a laundry pre-wash or a paste of powdered detergent
is rubbed into the stain right after school, or as soon as possible. Allow
the treated stain to soak before washing. Soak overnight for deep stains.
After washing the garment, check the stain before drying and repeat the
process if necessary.
