I read on the list last week about Brian Pinkney and realized I had a book
illustrated by him on my shelf- and a box of scratchboard in my supply cabinet.
I'm trying to put together a lesson where 7th graders do some illustrating
using this stuff and I just tried scratching the scratch board--how do you get
good results?
What kind of tool works? I tried a pin, a paper clip, the point of scissors,
but I am not able to get a smooth flowing line. The black stuff seems to just
flake and the tools stumble through. Is there something I need to do to the
scratchboard paper? I want to I show my kiddos Brian Pinkney illustrations,
but I can't demonstrate how to get smooth fast lines like they'll see in his
work
