A Monotype Question / Help ???

I made some great prints (very bright colors) using Portfolio water soluble
oil pastels on sheets of plastic 2 years ago. We put a layer of
gumarabic on the
plastic printing plate first. We let it dry and later applied the oil
pastels. We
used wet paper on an etching press to lift the image. Gumarabic is
water soluble
so it helped the color release to the paper. I've tried it in school
with gumarabic
I bought from Daniel Smith. It puddles on the plastic, dries poorly and
peels off.
Is there something I should add to the gumarabic first, should I thin it
down with
something, water ? Can anyone out there help me ? With our new etching press
pressure should not be a problem.
