Re: 7th grade paper mache projects?

Call me crazy....but Im making paper mache "sea
monsters" and ocean animals with 3rd Grade.

They have an end of the year show they put on and 2
of my 5 third grade classes asked if they could make something for the show.
Okay. Im praying that we will finish by show time. The kids love it so much its
worth the cleanup and I cant wait to see the final results.

For Sea Monsters, I motivated them with
a teacher made example strategically placed the week before we start and
use

Eric Carle's "Dragons.." poetry book, talk about
mythological animals and poetry. They mix animal body parts in a drawing to
create rough draft of their animal then make an armature then do mache. There
are lots of places to talk texture, color, blending, form, poetry, writing, its
stuffed with yummy learning and all hands on.

 

Just one of many paper mache ideas I have spinning
in my pea brain. Loved to hear what other ideas and plans are out
there!
