If you have a school news letter, you might put in a gentle reminder to have
students wear not so nice clothes on art day.

I have a student who gets frantic every time she gets something on her
clothes because her mother and nanny (dont' laugh...I was a nanny too!) ream
her out when she gets stuff on her clothes. Finally I told her that she is
in 4th grade and I have about 30 smocks (some are t-shirts that go to the
knees!) #1...she should not wear such nice things on art day...#2..If she is
worried...she knows right where the smocks are. It is her responsibility.

I make sure kinders and the little ones....wear smocks...and 3rd and up...I
make sure I remind them, if you need a smock, make sure to get one.

Otherwise...my line is always....I never wear a smock, I go home a mess every
day (was also a very messy kid) and my clothes ALWAYS come clean in the
regular wash. Rarely every do we use a material that will permenantly stain
clothes.

Good Luck!!!
