Yes, I have done theme parks with my seventh grade students. We used
specific artists to reflect the artists style. Before we started we looked
at the prints of FL Wright's proposed "theme" park which never materialized
but there are beautiful prints, the attractions of the Pan American
Exposition of 1901, the World's Fair 1893 (Chicago) and current flyers from
theme parks across the US (AAA club was really helpful), and visited some
websites. Our groups were 6 students..we had a planner, builders,
researcher, advertising manager...even these groups were subdivided but all
wanted to create rides so some sort so the ones who felt least capable teamed
up with another person and low and behold they developed more than 8 rides
and attractions per group, not bad for 6 students. They also had to deal
with cost, location and age groups...what type of people would they attract,
was it a seasonal place, etc. etc. anna
