Maybe this is a no brainer, but . . . One thing that helps me tremendously,
is having the students make "art folders." Folders are collected in piles
by numbered table (each table is numbered, and there's a little color
coded, 4 lettered square in the middle, with contact paper protecting it and
attaching it to the table - I can say, "Pink C's, please bring me the water
dishes," etc. ), so passing out, and collecting projects in progress is a
breeze. Also, items we use a lot, are in caddies on the table. They are
organized so that I can easily see what is missing. My caddies (for four to
a table) have crayons, scissors, pencils, erasors, and one hole punch.
Items like markers, paints, colored pencils, rulers, etc. are passed out in
separate containers as needed. Did you all ever notice how rulers can not
be accessible, or they become sticks with which to drum?!
