stepping stones

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out a way to keep
designs in place before arranging them into a mold to create a stepping
stone. I already know that we (the first grade teachers and I) are going to
hot glue flat, colored glass stones into the bottom of the wooden mold
before the concrete is poured (the vo-tech folks built the molds, and will
pour the concrete, they told us to set the design with hot glue). In class,
I am planning on having my first grade students choose their colored glass
and arrange it in the shape of a flower, plant, or insect. Does anyone have
suggestions for keeping the design in place before the design is glued into
the mold? Thanks in advance. BTW, I did save most of those stepping stone
posts from the past.

Leah
