Have them do gesture drawings from models from the class and for a final
project have them tear black paper onto newsprint to make a gesture drawing.
The human body has 16 torn pieces. (Head, neck, top torso, bottom torso,
three parts for each arm and three parts for each leg. Have them tear the
torn pieces and glue them onto torn tissue paper for the background. It can
make a whimsical figure dancing, play baseball, soccer, golf, or whatever
sport their into. The torn tissue paper can give reference to where the
figure is. The kids love to braid the tissue paper or cut the tops to make
crew cuts in green, purple hair or whatever. Its a no brainer, but its good
for fun at the end of the year.
