Re: Anyone using computers in the artroom? Need feedback please.

Date: Tue Apr 17 2001 - 04:16:20 PDT

I use computers at the ele. level. In one school just introducing, in
another school an established program where students have three art classes
in the computer lab and computers in the art room to work on their lessons.

So far, I have not been overwhelmed with their work on the computer. The
students more often want to play. They continuously start over, the work is
of lesser quality than there work with other art media. If they had more
time with this media, I would think that there might be a higher quality
work. Only time will tell as the younger students come up using the computer
as an art media.

For the most part, they want to rush through their work to have free time on
the computer, so I down play having computers in the room (although I have 6).

I am still trying to figure out how to make it a valid part of the art
curriculum. Especially with 5th grade students.
