Just got back from vacation. In response to this issue I teach middle school art we are 10 week quarters for 6 and 7 graders and 20 weeks for 8th graders. I agree it is way to short a time to get everything covered. I start with the basics in 6th grade and get more advanced each year. By the third year lessons are more intense with self evaluations, testing, art history, etc. If you want more infor I would be happy to share curriculum and lesson structure.

I am looking for people to c orrespon/comiserate with who teach middle school
art on a 9 week rotation basis.

I teach 6, 7 and 8th grade students for nine weeks per year--an entirely
insufficient amount of time--and I am wondering how other teachers in a
similar situation attempt to cover most of the bases in such and develop
student interest and ability in what amounts to the blink of an eye.
