You can buy blank scratchboard at a good art suppy house. Applying the ink
(black india ink) is tricky and you must be sure to get a thin coat covering.
Don't over brush an area, so that it can still be scratched off. I use
Canson or Essdee scratchboard because it seems to be the best.
To apply color, we have done thin watercolor washes over the scratched areas
and then with a crystal clear sealed it . The color can be applied more than
once and if the areas scratched are not to deep, the color will still be on
the white painted area of the sratchboard surface. If the color is applied
too thick it will destroy the quality of the scratchboard as it was
originally intended.
