Are you primarily an art teacher or do you teach other subjects as well?
visual arts only
With what medium do you teach?
I teach a wide variety of media. Acrylics, watercolors, pastels, charcoal,
grapite, clay, stone, metal, etc.
Do your students prefer one medium over another?
Some of my advanced students have chosen one or two media that they prefer. I
have some passionate young stone carvers.
Do your students prefer using the computer over the traditional art
medium? None so far. Though in photography I have a couple who have gotten
really excited about PhotoShop. And of course my animators wouldn't give up
3d Studio Max for anything.
Have any of your students become bored or tired with the computer and now
prefer to work in the traditional medium?
No. Some poo poo what they have not really tried yet. but most realize that
they have just begun to tap into a very powerful tool. But they are very much
aware that it is a tool with which they work. It does not do artwork. They
do. We use Painter, Photoshop, 3d Studio Max and other related software. So
they are more than aware that it goes way beyond clip art which is what most
more ignorant persons think of as art on the computer.
