We've been working on drawing various animals the past couple of weeks in
2nd grade - so far we've done cats, dogs, horses, elephants, tigers,
lions, monkeys, gorillas, giraffes, deer. Now I'd like to tie things up a
bit with an exciting "final project" on these. I'd like it to be broad
enough that I don't get 2 dozen pictures of just cats, or just elephants,
etc., but broad enough that they don't just slap down 2 or 3 of whatever
is easiest for them to draw, but possibly unrelated. ANYWAY, we've done
tempera and WC projects in the past, crayon resists, stencilling, collage,
collagraphs, papier mache sculpture, and I'd like to make this an exciting
project for the kids that incorporates their animal drawings. I'm Art on
a cart, but each class has sinks in their rooms, so we're fairly flexible.
Any ideas? I've got the weekend and Monday to mull over how to pull this
together. Maybe using "Peaceable Kingdom" somehow as a starting point?
