I decided to send this to the list. I have sent an e-mail to Pascal and hope
to hear back (I love the work of Joseph Cornell, too). I am curious if Free
Translation is a better option than Babelfish.
My Spanish speaking student (a sixth grader) said FreeTranslation.com
(http://www.freetranslation.com)
was fairly accurate. Her brother still does not speak any English....They go
through all classes together and she helps him. I translated all of my
lessons for her into Spanish so she could read them to her brother (both
students were EXCELLENT in art--A's on every project). Since she also knew
English--she would ask me if she didn't understand anything. I doubt that
any Web translator is completely accurate....but that is our best option
when we do not have resource people to help. I tried to learn some
Spanish --- but I didn't do very well (I guess I am an "old dog" at times).
Please post any Web translators that your Language teachers feel are the
best. I asked for help from ours and didn't get any answer...So did some
searching on my own. My students knew that if any thing was way off---or
didn't make sense to ask me for an explanation.
