My 8th graders used the mask for part of a unit on quests toward maturity.
Many cultures use mask-making as part of a ritual that completes manhood
traditions. Using color, pictoral symbols, etc... the students created masks
that could hold significance to their own approaching maturity. My students
also made quest games, complete with obstacles, and contacts with "wise"
characters that assist the player along the way, as well as many other ideas
in constructing their "quest" games.
