Villa College Night 2019

"Salvete, omnes! (Latin for Hello, everyone!)"

Celebrate the enduring connection between humans and animals during a night of FREE art, music, food, and fun just for college students! Come dressed in your best toga or stola (Roman gown)!

  • Get free food starting at 5:30 (served until 8:30 or while supplies last). Galleries open and activities kick in at 6:00.

  • Get a taste of our galleries, labs, and exhibitions with short tours that run every 15 minutes, 6:30-8:30.

  • Make an olive wreath from the Villa's own trees, and join the party!

  • Catch pop-up performances by the Troubadour Theater Company: Expect the unexpected!

  • Read your future in a (replica) sheep's liver, as in Roman times.

  • Try on Roman armor with Legion Six Historical Society.

  • Enjoy eclectic music sets from DJ Amara.

  • Photo Booth! Use Roman and Greek-inspired props and capture fun moments.

  • Apply a tattoo: Choose a mythological being who reflects your style.

  • Jump into an art-making activity:
    • Shape clay with ceramic artist Wayne Perry! Work with tiny molds to create your own protective amulet, add snakes to a clay Medusa, and decorate ancient faces on clay tiles to form an Assyrian ziggurat.
    • Design and ink your animal companion on canvas bags and buttons.
    • Drawing from Antiquity: Explore the art of illusion! Draw a grasshopper depicted on one of the Villa's garden frescoes; supplies provided, 7:15.
