Research on Museum Lighting: A Project Update
GCI senior scientist James Druzik looking at a copy of an old master drawing hung in a specially designed display case. The light in the case, which passes through a filter designed by researchers at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), projects less than half of the total energy of an unfiltered quartz-halogen light of equal illuminance. Human visual assessments were used to test the filtered light for visual satisfaction and color-rendering capacity. Photo: Emile Askey.
