Advanced-Level Photograph Conservation
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new series of annual two-week workshops on advanced-level photograph conservation. Each new workshop in the series will focus intensively on a specific type of damage or deterioration problem, guiding participants towards a better understanding of the nature and mechanisms of the damage and the appropriate treatment strategies to address it.

This series of workshops is designed as a follow-up to the course Fundamentals of the Conservation of Photographs, offered by the Getty Conservation Institute from 2008 to 2010.

2013 Workshop

This first workshop in the advanced-level photograph conservation series will be offered in partnership with the Croatian State Archives. The workshop will take place at the facilities of the Archives in Zagreb, Croatia.

Eligibility:
The workshop is open to fifteen mid-career conservators with at least three to five years of experience working in the area of paper or photograph conservation. Paper conservators should have some prior knowledge of photographic processes and photograph preservation. Priority will be given to applicants currently working with these materials. |

This workshop, like future workshops in the series, is designed as a follow-up to Fundamentals of the Conservation of Photographs and therefore priority will be given to qualified conservators applying from the following countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Spaces are available to conservators working in other countries.

Details:
The working language for the workshop is English. The cost of the workshop is US$1,000, payable to the J. Paul Getty Trust within 30 days of acceptance. Travel and lodging expenses are additional. |

The organizers will provide a list of affordable lodging available in Zagreb. Pending the availability of funds, the workshop fee may be subsidized or waived based on demonstrated institutional financial need. Funding requests will be reviewed individually.
