Baal (Canaanite deity)

Note: Deity worshipped in many ancient Middle Eastern communities, especially among the Canaanites, who considered him a fertility deity and one of the most important gods in the pantheon. Name is based on a Semitic common noun meaning "lord," thus there is much overlap and confusion between deities with similar names in the Middle East.
