Regulus, Saint (Scotland, Christian character)

Note: Legendary monk or bishop of Patras, Greece who fled with the bones of Saint Andrew; an angel directed his boat to Scotland, where the relics were deposited at Kilrymont (currently St. Andrews). Regulus' legend is supposed to take place in the 4th century, although some of the characters date to the 8th century. The Regulus legend was embraced by Scottish kings, nobles and churchmen from the 12th century onwards as justification for independence from England.
