Note: The Madrid Codex was divided into two parts in Europe, held in different hands until the 19th century. In 1880 Léon de Rosny discovered that the two parts had originally been single accordion-fold codex. Both parts were re-united in 1888, now in the Museo de América, Madrid. The two historical parts were called the Troano Manuscript and the Cortesianus Codex.
