Note: The concave body of this wine bottle from Korea narrows smoothly to form a slender neck. Its elegant form is emphasised by the vertical grooves and the inlaid decorations: white chrysanthemums which become smaller as they twist upwards until only small dots are visible. The bottle, made of very hard stoneware , was produced in Korea in de twelfth or thirteenth century. This was a period in which Korean culture flourished. The inlay technique and chrysanthemum motif are characteristic for Korean art of that period.
